Will defining sex protect children from harm?

The newly inaugurated President of the United States signed an executive order to protect women and restore the truth about sex and gender in the federal government. The order directed agencies within the federal government to:

• Use definitions of male, female, boy, girl, man, and woman in all communications and policies under the guidance of the Department of Health and Human Services

• Eliminate language that inculcates gender ideology and gives preferential treatment based on gender identity

• Protect privacy in intimate spaces based on sex

• Protect the freedom of individuals and agencies that receive federal funding to use binary sex messaging

When I spoke at the U.S. v. Skrmetti rally in December, I argued that speaking the truth about sex and gender would safeguard civil rights protections for women and children, so I am hopeful that this executive order marks the beginning of protecting children.

I anxiously anticipate specific rules and policies from the leaders in the nation’s top public health agencies. I will be watching Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s confirmation hearing this coming week, keenly focused on his answers about managing this and other key health issues of interest to FAIR For All.

Over the next two weeks, FAIR In Medicine will host live webinars at Noon on 1/29 and 2/5 to discuss the potential impacts of this executive order and other administration policies on existing gender medicine policies, medical education, and political and media discourse on this subject. We will also discuss how it affects parents’ ability to protect their children from social transitioning and harmful medications and procedures. UK Set To Begin A New Clinical Trial Using Puberty Blockers for Minors

On December 11th, the UK indefinitely banned the sale and supply of puberty blockers to minors diagnosed with gender dysphoria but will still study the use of the drugs. A new clinical trial is set to start this spring, but the NHS is reportedly keeping trial details under wraps until February.

FDA Bans Red Dye 3 From Foods, But Is The Cancer Risk Real?

Red colorant was removed from cosmetics in 1990, and on January 15th, the FDA announced it would ban its use in food colorants and ingested drugs. The FDA used a conservative safety rule to make the decision, but immunologist and microbiologist Andrea Love, PhD, expressed her skepticism about human risk in a thread on X.

Silence Won’t Save Medicine, Speaking Up Will

The ’s recently featured story on OB/GYN Dr. Tara Gustilo resonated with me. Although I believe I was targeted for other reasons that couldn’t be proven in a court of law, my in-hospital and public protests over health policy, especially during COVID-19 and hospital-led George Floyd protests, were challenged at work. In 2020, I publicly challenged the hospital DEI leader for hosting a public kneeling protest for George Floyd. In an email to my department, I told trainees not to feel obligated to participate and that my office was open if they wanted to discuss things privately. That leader reported me to HR for resident “intimidation.” In 2021, I sat in a small office with an HR rep, the leader of my department, and our supervisor, explaining my tweets about COVID-19 masking and vaccines because they went against hospital recommendations.

Those were just some of the reasons I was constantly under a microscope. Unfortunately, working like that grew challenging mentally and physically, negatively impacting my family. Leaving the job and career I had invested nearly half of my life in was difficult. Still, I recognized that I couldn’t be effective at changing it while remaining a part of it, especially since I wasn’t in a high-ranking academic position or a hospital leader with multiple published papers and accolades.

I challenged leadership because medicine and medical education have deviated far from Hippocratic principles. Others chose to self-censor to avoid retribution, but that will not solve the problem. We need to challenge and debate ideas in science and medicine openly. High-ranking academicians and physician leaders must encourage this and participate in effecting change. Still, it only takes a few brave voices in the lower ranks to speak out and force leadership changes, so I am thankful for people like Dr. Tara Gustilo, who share their stories and challenge leadership.

I am Co-Director of FAIR In Medicine because I want to inspire more of you to speak up for patients and physicians and challenge the entities that poison the doctor-patient relationship. I am optimistic that we can pivot back to the reason we exist in the first place: to preserve and restore health.

Healthcare Industry Interference In Parental Knowledge Has Political Ties

While the US still awaits the Supreme Court’s decision on whether or not the states can ban puberty blockers for the treatment of minors with gender distress, on December 11th, the UK indefinitely banned the sale and supply of puberty blockers to minors with the disorder.

Use of Puberty Blockers Gains Ethical Disapproval

The National Bioethics Committee of Italy recently issued an opinion about the use of puberty blockers for gender dysphoria. Journalist reports that the Italian advisors now recommend a restriction on the use of these drugs in clinical trials and not as first-line treatment for gender dysphoria.

USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences will host a conference on censorship in the sciences on January 10 at the University Park Campus, Los Angeles. Featured panelists from different disciplines in and outside academia will discuss their perspectives and offer solutions.

Ontario Medical Students and Doctors Report Rising Levels of Antisemitism

According to a survey done by the Jewish Medical Association of Ontario, 80% of Jewish medical professionals report experiencing antisemitism on the job since October 7, 2023. Students surveyed indicate the rate has more than doubled.

FAIR Canceled by the AAP

I'm sure you've heard by now that FAIR's name is mud at two of the nation's largest medical organizations. In May, we discovered that the booth we purchased to share information and network at the American Psychiatric Association conference was canceled without a specific explanation. In September, I was prevented from using my virtual pass to access the American Academy of Pediatrics Annual Conference within hours of the meeting's start. Rest assured, while FAIR's participation is restricted from these large organizations, our resolve grows to continue the work of returning medicine to one that honors the principles of the Hippocratic Oath.

Since I began serving as a leader of FAIR In Medicine, we have added nursing professionals to our Fellow list and highlighted the work of leaders in the health profession who share the same concerns and goals. We’ve presented several webinars on topics such as gender ideology and informed consent for SSRIs, the prenatal drug McKenna, the HPV vaccine, and weight loss drugs. We plan to continue this work and add more engaging content.

Pediatricians Place Politics Above Scientific Evidence

Several months ago, I wrote about released court documents showing how the Biden administration’s Assistant Health Secretary Rachel Levine pressured WPATH to remove its recommended minimum age for surgical transition. We have now learned that four American Academy of Pediatrics gender pediatricians ultimately influenced WPATH’s decision to change its procedure recommendations against the available evidence. We also discovered that data showing that puberty blockers lack efficacy in the treatment of gender dysphoria was not published because of fear that it might benefit contrarians in the field. How are we supposed to trust the science if the “experts” ignore the science and place political ideology over evidence?

Skeptical Alzheimer’s Data

If we didn’t already have enough reason to be skeptical of the nation’s health “experts,” details recently published allege falsified research for Alzheimer’s treatment. The investigation began more than a year ago, but recently, the NIH investigation concluded, and this thread on X.com lists the top scientists implicated in this scandal. The fallout from this revelation will have long-lasting and far-reaching impacts on the scientific, pharmaceutical, and medical industries worldwide. It gives the public and skeptical professionals more ammunition to distrust the system that is supposed to be the foundation of knowledge guiding our healthcare.

New DEI Medical School Caves To Criticism

The diversity program at what will become Canada's newest medical school will not be very inclusive.

The Toronto Metropolitan University School of Medicine is set to open in 2025. The website initially boasted three new admissions tracks exclusively for "equity-deserving groups" and stated that most applicants would be accepted from these groups. However, in response to public pressure, the website no longer lists the 75% equity quota.

Canadians are encouraged to contact their elected officials at the federal and provincial levels to raise their concerns about potential harm from such an exclusive admissions policy.

Puberty Blockers and Surgeries for Children With Gender Dysphoria

Spokespeople at children’s hospitals throughout the nation denied providing medical and surgical treatments for minors with gender dysphoria. Well, the claims data says otherwise. The medical advocacy organization Do No Harm recently released the StopTheHarm Database, which includes an interactive map of US hospitals that perform "gender-affirming care" on children.
